Every day CatOnMap hunters photograph cats all over the world. Now those shots help find missing pets โ meet the Lost Cat service.
How it works
- Create a request. Upload 1 to 5 photos of your pet (the more angles the better) and mark the place and date it went missing.
- Pay for the search. A Lost Cat request is a one-time purchase through the app store.
- AI searches for 7 days. Every new photo hunters publish within 5 km of the location is compared with your shots. The comparison is done by a neural network that "understands" a cat's appearance: coat colour, face shape, distinctive markings.
- A match โ a notification. If the system finds a similar cat, you instantly get a push and an e-mail: the photo, the place and the time of the sighting. Then it's up to you โ check the location and, hopefully, take the runaway home.
Why it works
A regular missing-pet poster reaches a small circle of people. But CatOnMap hunters photograph every cat they meet anyway โ their geotagged, timestamped shots become a network of "surveillance cameras" working to bring cats home. Pet found? Close the request with the "Cat found" button โ and do share a reunion photo.
Tips for the best result
- Upload sharp photos from different angles: a close-up of the face, the full coat, distinctive markings.
- Mark the loss location as precisely as possible โ the search radius is counted from it.
- Create the request as early as you can: only shots taken after the loss date are compared.
